From past to present, We have always used various materials to carry our goods. These are sometimes; it was a paper bag, sometimes a small basket, and sometimes nets. None of them have been as popular as plastic bags. All of the shopping we do now is put in plastic bags. This method can seem straightforward, but it actually puts our future in grave peril.

Every component of the environment, including people, animals, water, and trees, is seriously harmed by plastic bags. Plastic bags are among the causes of sudden forest fires. Transparent bags thrown into the environment absorb heat by making a greenhouse effect, causing forest fires. It is known that especially black plastic bags are much more harmful because they are obtained from garbage. After materials like buckets, plastic bottles, and medical waste are removed from the trash and painted black to conceal flaws, black bags are made available to consumers. Even the use of black dye, in addition to the materials from which it is made, may restrict the use of these bags.

Bags thrown into nature make it very difficult for animals to survive. These bags are considered food by animals and this risked their lives in danger. They must simultaneously deal with issues including escaping from threats and being unable to breathe because of the plastic bag bits wrapped around their bodies.

The time it takes for them to decompose in nature is 400 years at sea versus 800 years on land. During this degradation, all harmful materials are already transferred to the soil and water. This degradation negatively affects many living things, especially humans.

Plastic waste currently floats in the oceans like a continent. This heap in the seas is also growing considerably due to the use of plastic bags. Scientists have named this collection of waste as the Great Pacific Garbage Site since the majority of it was gathered between Hawaii and California. This pile will grow and remain as long as we continue to use plastic bags and their byproducts.

Destroying plastic bags also produces very harmful results. The gases released during disposal are at least as harmful to the environment as the use of bags. Disposing of plastic bags has very harmful consequences. The gases released during disposal are at least as harmful to the environment as the use of bags. Non-recycled plastics harm the environment because they can never entirely disintegrate. According to the United Nations Environment Program, 5 trillion disposable plastic bags are used worldwide each year.

Due to its negative impact on the environment, many countries ban single-use plastic products, while enacting laws regarding the disposal of lightweight plastic bags. In this regard, July 3rd has been declared as “International Plastic Bag Free Day.” This special day helps in increasing global awareness of the need to reduce the usage of single-use plastic bags.

Within the scope of this issue, there are many useful actions that individuals and companies can take. There are numerous alternatives to disposable bags that may be recycled and are ideal for long-term usage. Materials that can be used repeatedly such as net, paper bag, cloth bags, market carts, large backpacks should be preferred.

This orientation offers amazing benefits for the environment and future generations in addition to its economic benefits. If nations, businesses, and people want to continue to exist in the future, they should consider it and carry out their responsibilities.
